DAR Tagging UI Guide

The purpose of this guide is to instruct users on how to execute campaign creation and tagging generation using the Nielsen Campaign Management Interface (CMI).
Logging into CMI
- Open the email from Nielsen with your login credentials (check your “Junk” folder if you do not see it in your inbox)
- Once logged in and on the campaign landing page, select “Campaigns” from the dropdown menu and select “Create New Campaign”
Campaign Creation
Step 1: Background
Campaign Name: Enter a unique campaign name
Tip: It is best for this to mimic the campaign name in your Ad Server
Digital Ad Ratings: Select Digital Ad Ratings (DAR)
Date Range: Select campaign duration. Start date should mirror the date of the media launch. If your campaign date range requires extension later on, please contact the Nielsen Technical Services team (digitaltam@nielsen.com) minimum 3 days in advance prior to the campaign end date to have it extended
Campaign Contact: Enter the main Ad Ops/Media Planning contact for this campaign (phone number is optional)
Step 2: Advertiser(s)
Brand / Advertiser: Enter the brand / advertiser name. It is important to be as specific as possible
Campaign Target Gender: Select the campaign target gender
Campaign Target Age Group: Select the age range for the campaign’s target audience
Step 3: Ad Server(s)
Ad Server(s): Enter all applicable ad servers where the creatives will be hosted. Select “Site Served” if you are trafficking 1x1 tags directly through the publisher site
Collection Countries: Enter the list of countries from where the campaign will be delivering impressions
Primary Reporting Country: Enter the country where the majority of impressions will be served
Site Served Sites: If “Site Served” is selected as the ad server, you will be required to add the site/network, and the number of site served placements
Site/Network: Enter the site(s)/network(s) where impressions will be served. Please contact the Nielsen Technical Services team (digitaltam@nielsen.com) if the site is not available, or if new sites need to be added once campaign is in flight and in “Running” status
Note: pay attention to the “Notes” section for any site caveats
Site Served Placements: Select the number of site served tags needed for the site/network
Step 4: Configure Tags
Ad Server Universal Tags: Uncheck any universal tags you do not wish to receive (see box 1)
Placement ID Naming (Optional): Add an easily identifiable friendly name or placement name for each site served placement (see box 2)
Site Served Bulk Tagging Tool: If you have a large volume of tags, the bulk upload feature allows you to generate site served tags in bulk. Please refer to the “Bulk Upload Function” section in this guide
Click “Save” to exit to the main campaign menu and download tags
Step 5: Tag Download
Edit Campaign: You may go back to edit campaign set up prior to the campaign start date
Download Tags: Select “Download Tags” and download the zip file containing the corresponding tags
Bulk Tagging Tool
(Recommended for if you have a large volume of placements requiring site served tags)
Step 1: Upload Your File
Download excel template and fill in the appropriate details. Import the completed template back into the system
Note: Creative ID & Name can be left blank
Step 2: Matching Data Points to Headers
Verify details look correct upon import. Click Next to continue
Step 3: Validating Your Site Identifiers
Select the dropdown menu under Media Plan Site and match the site(s) appropriately
Step 4: Error Correction
Scan for duplicates and errors if any. Click “Download Tags” to retrieve the bulk tags
Friendly Name Bulk Upload
(Recommended for if you have a large volume of placements requiring renaming)
Select “Manage Placements” from the main campaign menu, then click “Bulk Upload”. Download excel template and fill in the appropriate details. Import the completed template back into the system to update placement names all at once
Friendly Name Alternative
(Recommended for if you have a small volume of placements requiring renaming)
Select “Manage Placements” from the main campaign menu, then click “Rename Placement”
Restricted Characters
Placement Name/ID Must Not Contain The Following Characters:
- ( ^ ) Caret
- ( - ) Dash
- ( | ) Pipe Bar
- ( " ) Quotation Mark
- ( [] ) Square Brackets
- ( ? ) Question Mark
- ( & ) Ampersand
- ( > ) Greater Than
- ( < ) Less Than
- ( \ ) Backslash
- ( ) Space
- Non-printable Japanese/Chinese characters
Note: Placement threshold must not exceed 5000 line items per campaign
